McNair Magnet School was awarded a federal magnet grant during the 2004-2005 school year. As one of only 50 schools in the United States to be awarded this prestigious title, McNair is proud of this distinction. As a magnet school any student in Brevard County may apply to attend one of our magnets: performing arts, gifted/accelerated, math, science, & technology. Applications for the 2008-2009 school year are available now. All applications received after January 30, 2008 will be placed in a waiting pool.

Every 7th & 8th grader is involved with the arts in their core subjects by studying art prints, music, skits, and more. With national consultants, training sessions, and curriculum mapping teachers are using the arts to create standards based lessons.

Academic Support Program

Part of our mission at McNair Magnet School is to help students reach their maximum potential to become productive individuals in today’s changing society. With our Academic Support Program we target students who scored at a level 1 or 2 on last year’s FCAT on the subjects of Reading and/or Math. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 to 9:00am. Taking advantage of this opportunity of academic enhancement promotes an atmosphere of teamwork and community. Our dedicated teachers show their high standards and commitment in a daily basis. Remember, it takes a team to build a dream!

100% Club
In an attempt to reduce the number of absences at McNair Magnet School and increase our school ranking within our school district, we are continuing our Attendance Incentive Program Entitled “ The 100% Club”.
Students with Perfect Attendance Awarded
Every Grading Period
Certificate and Recognition Celebration (Refreshments)

We realize that good attendance directly impacts student achievement. So let’s make this a “McNair Team Effort” towards improving our daily attendance rate.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity of Brevard County has a program called "Turning Cans into Keys!" and basically what it involves is people putting their empty aluminum cans in a special container instead of the trash. Habitat volunteers will provide the boxes, and bug-deterent plastic liners for our campus. Habitat volunteers will come around on a schedule to pick up the cans and bring them to a recycling center, where they money they get is donated to Habitat for Humanity. Habitat's mission, as you probably know, is to provide low income families with decent, affordable homes of their own. The homes are built buy licensed contractors who direct and utilize volunteer labor, including the couple themselves who must give 500 hours of "sweat equity" on other people's homes before they are eligible for their own. They are given no interest, no down payment mortgages at an affordable monthly payment rate.
